Where should one start? It is better to fall on the rock and be broken, than have the rock fall on you, grinding you into dust. Thank You Lord Jesus for being my Rock.
Dearest Lord Jesus, I have taken Your precious Word so lightly, having placed my own agendas, comforts and security above that of advancing Your Kingdom! I repent of my skewed concepts of priority… How can I even say that I am walking with Christ, when bringing poor, unsaved souls into Your Kingdom has not been the utmost importance to me? Oh Lord, I repent of being slow to speak of Your grace and forgiveness! I repent of my reluctance in testifying about Your life-giving love. Love that conquers all…
Lord, I realize how selfish I have been! I cry out to You, would You give me one more chance?
Matthew 24: 44-51 “Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. ” Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season? “Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing. “Assuredly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all his goods. “But if that evil servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’ “and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards, “the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of, “and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Lord, Your coming is closer than ever! Yet I have found myself slipping into a mindset of that evil servant . In the secret chambers of my own heart I have began beating my fellow servants, specifically those who are “the least of these”, the ones You love so dearly! Lord You connect me with those who are despised by people who are strong, secure and self-sufficient… I must now ask, have I denied them of Your mercy by not mentioning Your Name? Have I not held out a hand to lift up those fallen by the wayside? Lord have mercy on me, wretched servant that I am! How have I used the talents You have entrusted into my keeping?
Matthew 25:13-30 “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming. ” For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. “And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey. “Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents. “And likewise he who had received two gained two more also. “But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord’s money. “After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them. “So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.’ “His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ “He also who had received two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.’ “His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ Then he who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. ‘And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.’
“But his lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. ‘So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. ‘Therefore take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents. ‘For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will betaken away. ‘And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
Lord, You have foreordained my place and calling. I have not proved to be that faithful servant I ought to be! I repent of things left undone. I repent of wasted opportunities. I could have done so much more for the least of these. Have mercy on me… Lord, I have become a hypocrite in the following ways; having made statements and promises to people when having no power over the events of their lives and the way they turn out. For You alone know the outcomes in these lives… Lord I must ask, have I given false hope to the helpless and those who cannot defend themselves? I know You are the defender of the weak and so I will continue carrying them before Your Throne. Time after time I have cried out for Your justice to be revealed in the lives of the oppressed as well as the oppressors. Yet, at times I find myself siding with them that inflict injustice. Have mercy on me Lord!
Luke 11:44-52 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like graves which are not seen, and the men who walk over them are not aware of them.” Then one of the lawyers answered and said to Him, “Teacher, by saying these things You reproach us also.”
And He said, “Woe to you also, lawyers! For you load men with burdens hard to bear, and you yourselves do not touch the burdens with one of your fingers. “Woe to you! For you build the tombs of the prophets, and your fathers killed them. “In fact, you bear witness that you approve the deeds of your fathers; for they indeed killed them, and you build their tombs. “Therefore the wisdom of God also said, ‘I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will kill and persecute,’ “that the blood of all the prophets which was shed from the foundation of the world may be required of this generation, “from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah who perished between the altar and the temple. Yes, I say to you, it shall be required of this generation. “Woe to you lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge. You did not enter in yourselves, and those who were entering in you hindered.”
Lord, I confess my good intentions gone wrong and allowing my hearts motives to become influenced and tainted by the leaven of this present world’s corruption and inadequacies in defending the poor, the widow and the fatherless. Have mercy on me Lord!
Luke12:1b-8 “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. “For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known. “Therefore whatever you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have spoken in the ear in inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops. ” And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. “But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, fear Him! “Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God. “But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. ” Also I say to you, whoever confesses Me before men, him the Son of Man also will confess before the angels of God.
