It seems that there are some contradictions regarding the lineage of Enoch, as Adam’s son Seth was born after Cain murdered Abel, yet both Seth and Cain are recorded as forefathers to Enoch in the Holy Bible. Maybe there were two Enochs as well as two Lamechs… Go figure… I’ll include the following passages (NKJV) that mention their names.
Genesis 4:17-18 And Cain knew his wife, and she conceived and bore Enoch. And he built a city, and called the name of the city after the name of his son — Enoch. To Enoch was born Irad; and Irad begot Mehujael, and Mehujael begot Methushael, and Methushael begot Lamech.
And Adam lived one hundred and thirty years, and begot a son in his own likeness, after his image, and named him Seth. After he begot Seth, the days of Adam were eight hundred years; and he had sons and daughters. So all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years; and he died.
Seth lived one hundred and five years, and begot Enosh. After he begot
Enosh, Seth lived eight hundred and seven years, and had sons and
daughters. So all the days of Seth were nine hundred and twelve years;
and he died. Enosh lived ninety years, and begot Cainan. After he begot
Cainan, Enosh lived eight hundred and fifteen years, and had sons and
So all the days of Enosh were nine hundred and five years; and he died.
Cainan lived seventy years, and begot Mahalalel. After he begot
Mahalalel, Cainan lived eight hundred and forty years, and had sons and
daughters. So all the days of Cainan were nine hundred and ten
years; and he died. Mahalalel lived sixty-five years, and begot Jared.
After he begot Jared, Mahalalel lived eight hundred and thirty years,
and had sons and daughters. So all the days of Mahalalel were eight
hundred and ninety-five years; and he died. Jared lived one hundred and
sixty-two years, and begot Enoch. After he begot Enoch, Jared
lived eight hundred years, and had sons and daughters. So all the days
of Jared were nine hundred and sixty-two years; and he died.
Genesis 5: 21-24 Enoch lived sixty-five years, and begot Methuselah. After he begot Methuselah, Enoch walked with God three hundred years, and had sons and daughters. So all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years. And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.
1 Chronicles 1:1-4 Adam, Seth, Enosh, Cainan, Mahalalel, Jared, Enoch, Methuselah, Lamech, Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
Luke 3:37 the son of Methuselah, the son of Enoch, the son of Jared, the son of Mahalalel, the son of Cainan,
Hebrews 11:5 By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, "and was not found, because God had taken him"; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
Jude 1:14 Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men also, saying, "Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints,
From the Book of Enoch, Chapter 37:1-2 The second vision which he saw, the vision of wisdom -which Enoch the son of Jared, the son of Mahalalel, the son of Cainan, the son of Enos, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, saw.
Enoch was one of the early patriarchs of the Old Testament, predecessor to Noah and Methuselah. The oldest man mentioned in the Bible was Enoch’s son, a recipient and keeper of his father’s revelations who relayed it to future generations. The topics of his revelations include the last days and the great tribulation.
To Methuselah’s son Lamech, Noah was born and (according to the book of Enoch) caused great fear in his father who beheld his newborn baby’s countenance full of radiant light, unlike the appearance of a normal baby. Noah was one of the few righteous men left on earth at that time who found favor in the eyes of God.
I read the book of Enoch alongside Genesis for discernment’s sake, in order to spot inconsistencies. What I found out was simply amazing. The information that the two books do share is consistent, regarding the biblical events that took place before and during the days of Noah, including the "translation" of Enoch. He and Elijah were the only humans (in the physical) taken up by God, an event which Bible describes as being translated. But the book of Enoch also sheds light to many mysteries of creation, explaining the courses of celestial bodies, earthly calendar, etc., all the while glorifying God the Omnipotent. This extensive 108-chapter book gives detailed accounts of what took place on earth as well as heaven in the early days (we are still dealing with the consequences). For example, one will learn what resulted from angelic beings impregnating the daughters of men, thus causing the judgment of God to be executed on the whole earth.
Truly, these days we live in are such as the days of Noah. As those fallen angels taught the early people secret knowledge such as astrology, enchantments, divination and different forms of idol worship forbidden by God, the very same demonic forces are teaching the present generation about the hidden mysteries of old. This is happening through an ever increasing access and acceptance of different religions, practices and philosophies, all combined in a great cultural mixing bowl of globalism… I came to realize that the very essence of today’s entertainment industry (including the internet and other medias) is in fact image worship based on occult that one day will face severe judgment from Almighty God. Even my passion toward art is a form of worshiping a graven image that God forbids in His first two commandments. Same could be said about other luxuries we Christians hold so dear, such as fancy church buildings, events that are clearly meant to be enjoyed in the flesh, and today’s "norm" of pursuing and idealization of personal wealth and prosperity. When one considers the poor and persecuted Christians in countries such as China or the continent of Africa, and the true fruits of the spirit that is revealed in their sufferings for Christ’s sake (please read Jesus’ sermon on the mount), things are put in a new perspective!!!
I have given a lot of thought to what I have previously written on this blog. My conscience is tender due to a possibility that I may have stirred up an unhealthy interest toward paranormal phenomena in someone reading my blog. Despite the fact that the internet has an easy access to any such topic, I am responsible for conveying my own concepts and opinions regarding the supernatural. Reading about my earlier spiritual misconceptions (with increased understanding provided by the Holy Spirit) I feel a strong conviction to warn people about satanic deceptions. They come in many forms, appearing so beautiful, desirable and filled with knowledge that they can easily take over and start ruling persons intellect. Compared to such otherworldly knowledge, manifestations and influence on one’s mind, the beautiful and simple message of the Gospel may seem rather ignorant. And so it is, foolishness to the "wise" whose minds are filled with knowledge of either demonic or carnal origin. But the answer is simple, it is in the shed blood of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer.
There is power in the blood. Saving, protecting, healing power. Jesus’ blood never fails.
Once again, as I was retiring to bed and opened my Bible, Lord gave me these comforting words from Luke 10:17-24;
Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name." And He said to them, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.
"Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions,
and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means
hurt you. "Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the
spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are
written in heaven." In that hour Jesus rejoiced in the Spirit and said,
"I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden
these things from the wise and prudent and revealed them to babes.
Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight. "All things have been delivered to Me by My Father,
and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father
is except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him." Then He turned to His disciples and said privately, "Blessed are the eyes which see the things you see; "for I tell you that many prophets and kings have desired to see what
you see, and have not seen it, and to hear what you hear, and have
not heard it.
